Wishlist Wednesday: Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar

Wishlist Wednesday on The Candid Cover

Welcome to this week’s edition of Wishlist Wednesday! Today I am featuring Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar. This Hindu mythology inspired novel has really caught my attention.

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about and have yet to read. It is a spin-off of the original meme, Waiting on Wednesday, that was formerly hosted by Breaking the Spine.

Summary (from Goodreads):

The daughter of a star and a mortal, Sheetal is used to keeping secrets. But when a flare of starfire injures her human father, Sheetal needs a full star's help to heal him. A star like her mother, who returned to the sky long ago.

Sheetal's quest will take her to a celestial court of shining wonders and dark shadows, where she must act as her family's champion in a competition to decide the next ruling house of the heavens—or risk never returning to Earth at all.

Neil Gaiman's Stardust meets a rich landscape of Hindu mythology and celestial intrigue in this sparkling YA fantasy debut.

Thoughts

I was pulled in by Neil Gaiman and Hindu mythology when I read the synopsis for this book. Doesn’t it sound like an epic fantasy? The cover is all sorts of amazing as well.
