Wishlist Wednesday: Dear Heartbreak by Heather Demetrios (editor)

Wishlist Wednesday on The Candid Cover

Welcome to this week’s edition of Wishlist Wednesday! Today I am featuring Dear Heartbreak: YA Authors and Teens on the Dark Side of Love edited by Heather Demetrios. The concept of this anthology is so amazing and it features so many of my favourite authors, including Becky Albertalli and Gayle Forman.

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by  Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about and have yet to read. It is a spin-off of the original meme, Waiting on Wednesday that was formerly hosted by Breaking the Spine.

THIS WEEK’S BOOK:

Wishlist Wednesday: Dear Heartbreak by Heather Demetrios (editor)Title: Dear Heartbreak: YA Authors and Teens on the Dark Side of Love
Publisher: Henry Holt and Co.
Publication Date: December 18, 2018
Goodreads
Summary (from Goodreads):

This is a book about the dark side of love: the way it kicks your ass, tears out your heart, and then forces you to eat it, bite by bloody bite. If you’ve felt this way, you’re not alone…

In this powerful collection, YA authors answer real letters from teens all over the world about the dark side of love: dating violence, break-ups, cheating, betrayals, and loneliness. This book contains a no-holds-barred, raw outpouring of the wisdom these authors have culled from mining their own hearts for the fiction they write. Their responses are autobiographical, unflinching, and filled with love and hope for the anonymous teen letter writers.

Featuring Adi Alsaid, Becky Albertalli, Libba Bray, Heather Demetrios, Amy Ewing, Zach Fehst, Gayle Forman, Corey Ann Haydu, Varian Johnson, A.S. King, Nina LaCour, Kim Liggett, Kekla Magoon, Sarah McCarry, Sandhya Menon, Cristina Moracho, Jasmine Warga, and Ibi Zoboi.

Thoughts

I always find anthologies to be hit and miss, however I am really excited for this one. It sounds sort of like a Dear Abby kind of a book with responses from some amazing YA authors. It is quite a long wait for December, I know!

Old Dear Abbey! Been a long time… Anthologies just aren’t my thing though. It sounds interesting, but I just. Don’t. Know!
