Review: My Lady’s Choosing

Have you ever wanted to be the main character of a book? My Lady’s Choosing gives the reader an opportunity to star as the protagonist of a few different plot lines. The book starts off with a small guide to each of the various characters (including yourself) that can be met in each of the stories. Then the adventure begins as you decide which character you want to spend your time with.

❀ Scotsman is witty and corny

The character that I chose was the Scotsman, as he seemed to be the most exciting and adventurous of the lot. The story moves along at a quick pace and can be read easily in one sitting. At times I was able to choose where the story would go next and at other times, the book told me which page to go to next. It is a witty story, although some scenes seemed a bit corny, which may have been the intention of the authors. I have never read Outlander, but apparently the Scotsman story is a parody of the popular series. There was also a mystery element to the plot that I quite enjoyed.

❀ Multiple Sexual References

I haven’t read too many historical romance novels before, so I may not understand the format that well. However, there are multiple sexual references in the book that are meant to be funny. A couple of them did have me chuckling, but there were just so many of them that they became a bit tiresome to read. When the young children in the story started discussing sexual encounters, that was when I had had enough.

❀ A Unique Book

My Lady’s Choosing by Kitty Curran and Larissa Zageris is a unique book that allows the reader to choose the path of the story. The authors have created an intriguing cast of characters that will lead readers on many different and at times humorous adventures. Fans of the historical romance genre are sure to find this book to be enjoyable.

I like that you got to choose your way through this book. Sorry it wasn’t stellar at a 3.5 rating but I can deal with that and I do like Historical Romances so it might be better for me. I have read Outlander and 5 others in that series – haven’t started the 7th yet cause I don’t want it to end for me yet. =)
    Thanks for the great review!

Great review! I agree about all the sexual references being a little much. I would’ve enjoyed it a bit more if it wasn’t quite so “trashy romance novel”-ish. The scotsman storyline wasn’t bad. There was another option that involved a werewolf plotline, which I thought was odd.
