Welcome to this week’s edition of Friday Reads! Today I am sharing a few quotes from My Lady’s Choosing: An Interactive Romance Novel by Kitty Curan and Larissa Zageris. I am part way through (I think!), and it is such a fun concept!
Book Beginnings is a book meme hosted by Rose City Reader where participants share quotes (the first sentence, or so) of the book, along with initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice, and the rules are quite simple: Grab a book, any book, and turn to page 56 or 56% in your e-reader. Find any non-spoilery sentence(s) and post.

It has been a long time since I have read a “choose your own adventure” type of book, and My Lady’s Choosing is a perfect theme for an adult version of one. I have chosen to go the path of Captain Angus McTaggart, so I am curious as to how this will all work out. I might try another path once I have read this story because I am so intrigued by the other story lines.
“Move that leg, girl!” the Dowager Lady Craven hisses as she prods you with her cane. The two of you are sitting in the back of her rather shabby carriage, on the way to your first social event since you started working as her lady’s companion more than a year ago.
Mac squeezes your shoulder, and you see him tighten his grip on his dirk. Ollie, meanwhile, stares at Constantina in silent horror, his eyes like those of a man who knows he is about to drown.
