❀ Simple Layering Technique

What is really amazing to me about Salad in a Jar, is the method that Helm Baxter describes to create these salads. After you understand the simple layering technique, any recipe can be used. This is very exciting to me, as there are many times that I have tried to take a salad for lunch and found that it was soggy or just not as fresh once lunchtime hits.

Also, the 10 minutes that it takes to prepare the most complicated recipe is quite doable and can be sped up with a little preparation the night before. There are so many different types of recipes that vegetarians and those who prefer a little more protein in their meal will be able to find something enjoyable to prepare. The ingredients for the salads and dressings that I created were all sourced from my local grocery store and were quite reasonably priced. Considering that I would spend more on take-out, this is considerable savings.

I just love taking the little jam jars with me because it feels so homey even when you are away from home and much cheaper than a purchased salad. I hope that you enjoy the recipes. (it might still be on NetGalley ;))

These salads are so pretty in their jars! I reviewed a salad in jars cookbook a couple of years ago, and really like the idea that these can be made ahead. I’ll see if I can find this book.

That does look like a good book. I was always worried my salad in a jar would be soggy, so I never tried it before. Glad you reviewed this book.

What a great idea for do your own salad lunches, and I like the look of them in the cute jars with flower labels. Especially, as you mentioned, when we consider the time spent waiting for fast food or even restaurant meals.

There’s a company here in Sydney to which chefs doante their time and money for salad jars and the money goes to domestic violence charities. I’ve been taken with them since then and could always use some good receipes! These look so pretty!
