Review: When We Collided by Emery Lord

I absolutely adored the setting in When We Collided. The book takes place in this adorable small town by the ocean called Verona Cove. The town is so small that there is essentially one of every service, like art stores and restaurants, and all the Townies are friends. The way it is described is so cute and so happy that I honestly would love to live there.

❀ Complex Main Character

I liked Vivi as a character in When We Collided. She is such a complex character that the reader really gets to know throughout the book. The best way to describe Vivi is probably vivacious, if you will. She is so full of life and ambitious, traits that I love to see. Vivi is such a creative and unique person that you can’t help but fall in love with.

❀ A Big Loveable Family

When We Collided has another element that isn’t too common in YA: a big family. When they are introduced in the book, I immediately fell in love with all of them. There are six kids, but they separate themselves into two groups, the “bigs” and the “littles.” They all have such contrasting personalities, which is very interesting to read about. Just the theme of family alone was enough to make me love the book. I just found it so sweet how they all take care of each other.

❀ Cute small town setting

When We Collided by Emery Lord is the perfect book to kick back with in the warm weather, set in a small Californian town that is so cutesy. There is an incredibly unique main character who is so happy-go-lucky and a big family that is so loveable. I would definitely recommend that everyone read this book because it has the perfect mix of fluff and seriousness.

Ah, yay for a big family! It’s so rare in YA so I got unnaturally excited when you mentioned that in your review. I think that setting is super cute and I can imagine getting lost in this book. I hear so much praise for Lord’s books and if I’m going to read any, it’s definitely this one!

I hope that you enjoy this one! I have noticed that we overlap on our feelings about books. We love some of the same ones and then for some reason we are polar opposites on others! 💁

I finally have money but I have yet to find a copy of this in our local bookstore because it’s always out of stock! I’m so excited to read this though.
