Another Day by David Levithan is such a breathtaking book that everyone should grace their shelves with. It has a bit of an eerie concept, but mixed in with a contemporary, making this book an extremely believable magical realism book! One of my favourite things about this book is how it is told in Rhiannon’s perspective instead of A’s like in book one. This really makes Another Day a thrilling companion to Every Day.

Summary (from Goodreads):

Every day is the same for Rhiannon. She has accepted her life, convinced herself that she deserves her distant, temperamental boyfriend, Justin, even established guidelines by which to live: Don’t be too needy. Avoid upsetting him. Never get your hopes up.

Until the morning everything changes. Justin seems to see her, to want to be with her for the first time, and they share a perfect day—a perfect day Justin doesn’t remember the next morning. Confused, depressed, and desperate for another day as great as that one, Rhiannon starts questioning everything. Then, one day, a stranger tells her that the Justin she spent that day with, the one who made her feel like a real person…wasn’t Justin at all.

In this enthralling companion to his New York Times bestseller Every Day, David Levithan tells Rhiannon’s side of the story as she seeks to discover the truth about love and how it can change you.

Review: Another Day by David Levithan

❀ Interesting Concept

In Another Day, there is a character who wakes up every morning in a new body, as a new person. This concept is really interesting to me, because the way David Levithan has described what it must be like to be in love with someone, but struggle with the fact that you are a completely different person every day so well that the story is so believable. It is evident that so much planning has gone into this novel because there are so many details and many, many complex layers to the story.

❀ Magical Realism

Lately, I have been really into the magical realism genre and I was thrilled to see that Another Day is, in fact, in this incredible genre! I always enjoy reading a contemporary novel with a surreal twist. This book would definitely be a good choice for those who aren’t quite sure what magical realism is, because I think that this book pretty much sums up the genre.

❀ Rhiannon’s Perspective

I really enjoyed how Another Day is pretty much Every Day, but told in Rhiannon’s perspective. It is really interesting reading some of the same events from the first book, but how another character interprets them. I will admit, when I first saw this book, I thought it would be a sequel, not a companion, but I’m glad that Another Day ended up the way it did. Honestly, you don’t have to have read Every Day to understand Another Day.

❀ A Must-Read

Another Day by David Levithan is a definite must-read with its believable concept and mind-blowing genre. It is the perfect companion for Another Day, written in Rhiannon’s perspective. If you have yet to read the Every Day books, you are missing out on a beautiful story that will leave you with an incredible book hangover.

This sounds fascinating! I like that I could follow it without reading Every Day first, but more than likely I will. Thanks for sharing your review.
