For as long as Fei can remember, there has been no sound in her village, where rocky terrain and frequent avalanches prevent residents from self-sustaining. Fei and her people are at the mercy of a zipline that carries food up the treacherous cliffs from Beiguo, a mysterious faraway kingdom.

When villagers begin to lose their sight, deliveries from the zipline shrink and many go hungry. Fei’s home, the people she loves, and her entire existence is plunged into crisis, under threat of darkness and starvation.

But soon Fei is awoken in the night by a searing noise, and sound becomes her weapon.

Richelle Mead takes readers on a triumphant journey from the peak of Fei’s jagged mountain village to the valley of Beiugo, where a startling truth and an unlikely romance will change her life forever…

The Vampire Academy series is so amazing! Richelle Mead’s new book is sure to be incredible as well. I love the fact that this stand-alone novel is inspired by ancient Chinese history. The cover alone is absolutely stunning!

Ok, so I heard about this book at BEA but didn’t check it out because I’m not really a para fan…and now that I know that it’s Chinese folklore, I might have to add it to my list. Thanks for getting me to put it on my TBR!

It is really hard to get past staring at the cover for long enough to even read the synopsis. It is a gorgeous cover. But then, when you read the synopsis, it makes you instantly start craving this story. The little fact that it is by the awesomely amazing Richelle Mead is just another thing to endear me to Soundless. I am genuinely excited for this one!
