10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston is a perfect book for your holiday reading list.  As a big fan of YA Christmas books, I was excited when I first heard of this one.  I was expecting festive fluff, and this book delivers on that with its dynamic family and perfectly cheesy dates. This is a light and fluffy read that is sure to get the reader in the Christmas spirit.

Summary (from Goodreads):

One broken heart, ten blind dates—and a whole lot of confusion!

Sophie wants one thing for Christmas—a little freedom from her overprotective parents. So when they decide to spend Christmas in South Louisiana with her very pregnant older sister, Sophie is looking forward to some much needed private (read: make-out) time with her long-term boyfriend, Griffin. Except it turns out that Griffin wants a little freedom from their relationship.

Heartbroken, Sophie flees to her grandparents’ house, where the rest of her boisterous extended family is gathered for the holiday. That’s when her nonna devises a (not so) brilliant plan: Over the next ten days, Sophie will be set up on ten different blind dates by different family members. Like her sweet cousin Sara, who sets her up with a hot guy at an exclusive underground party. Or her crazy aunt Patrice, who signs Sophie up for a lead role in a living nativity. With a boy who barely reaches her shoulder. And a screaming baby.

When Griffin turns up unexpectedly and begs for a second chance, Sophie feels more confused than ever. Because maybe, just maybe, she’s started to have feelings for someone else . . . Someone who is definitely not available.

This is going to be the worst Christmas break ever . . . or is it?

Review: 10 Blind Dates by AShley Eston

This book follows Sophie, who is dealing with a recent heartbreak, as she is set up on 10 blind dates by her family. It is easy to sympathize with Sophie, but it is also inspiring to see her transform and bounce back from her broken heart. The book is filled with winter vibes as it takes place over Christmas, and I loved reading about each of the festive dates, some more outrageous than others. There is also a balance between fun and heartfelt moments as there is a subplot with Sophie’s pregnant sister and complications she faces. As well, family is one of my favourite elements in YA, and I was happy to see such a big, lively family that (mostly) wants the best for Sophie.

❀ A Cosy Read

10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston is a cosy read that is perfect for curling up with as the weather gets colder. This one is both wholesome and heartfelt, and the main character truly transforms throughout the book. I would definitely recommend this one to fans of Hallmark movies.

“Do you have any creative date night ideas?” Decorate mugs at a pottery shop, or go to an amusement park, or do both!
