Summary (from Goodreads):

I’m the daughter of murdered parents.
I’m the friend of a dead girl.
I’m the lover of my enemy.
And I will have my revenge.

In the wake of the devastating destruction of the luxury yacht Persephone, just three souls remain to tell its story—and two of them are lying. Only Frances Mace knows the terrifying truth, and she’ll stop at nothing to avenge the murders of everyone she held dear. Even if it means taking down the boy she loves and possibly losing herself in the process.

Sharp and incisive, Daughter of Deep Silence by bestselling author Carrie Ryan is a deliciously smart revenge thriller that examines perceptions of identity, love, and the lengths to which one girl is willing to go when she thinks she has nothing to lose.

Review: Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan

❀ An Edge of Your Seat Read

After an attack on a cruise ship, the lives of two friends change forever. One girl dies (Libby) and the other is orphaned (Frances). What is really interesting is how Frances, the living one, pretends to be her dead friend (Libby). After four years of hiding from two other survivors, the Senator and his son, Frances confronts them. The intrigue that Carrie Ryan has created in this book provides so much anticipation for the reader that it is an on the edge of your seat kind of read.

❀ AN Unforgettable Story

This book reminded me a bit of The Secrets We Keep by Trisha Leaver, because the girl who feels like she is less admired pretends to be the other, who is dead. This concept is quite engaging,  as it is really interesting to discover how the person who is acting as the dead one reveals themselves. The results are always humorous and make for an unforgettable story. Daughter of Deep Silence is certainly a book that has some real laugh out loud moments that will keep readers wanting to know more.

❀ Identifiable Main Character

Frances, the protagonist, is one of those characters that readers will immediately identify with. This character is clever, brave and witty! All the while that Frances is trying to discover the truth about how the cruise ship sank, she is outsmarting her enemies. It is so enjoyable to read books that contain such strong, well-developed female characters.

❀ Will Not Disappoint

Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan is a perfect addition to your to-be-read list. This book will not disappoint! The cover makes it seem a bit like a historical fiction, but really, it’s a contemporary.
