Review: Alive by Chandler Baker

If you are a fan of an eerie book that will keep you guessing, I recommend Alive by Chandler Baker. This book is so detailed that readers will feel like they are in the main character’s position. The reader will easily be able to imagine the setting and see themselves there.

❀ A Beautiful Contemporary

Despite the fact that Alive is so beautifully done, it wasn’t for me. At first, it is a contemporary novel about a girl who receives a heart transplant, but then, the genre seems to switch about halfway through to a paranormal/mystery sort of book. I personally am not a huge fan of paranormal books, so I didn’t enjoy this one as much. However, this setting is well described and I would definitely recommend it to those who enjoy the paranormal genre.

❀ Main Character Makes Bad Decisions

The main character, Stella didn’t really impress me. I found her to be a little bit rude to her friends. She ditched one of them a few times, which I didn’t like. Also, I couldn’t really relate to her all that much either because I just don’t really like characters that make bad decisions like Stella did. I think she could have been a little bit nicer to those who love her, especially her parents.

If you enjoyed The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O’Brien, you should give Alive by Chandler Baker a try! It is fast-paced and mysterious, just like The Vault of Dreamers.
